D1 - Information Infrastructure and Architecture

Objectives of task :

To develop an informatics infrastructure and architecture (an internet portal) that:

• builds on the programs and technologies of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's (UPMC) e-Health System;
• supports the RERC's research and development activities;
• meets HIPAA requirements;
• provides a test-bed for third party telerehabilitation applications; and
• can be used as a model for future telerehabilitation infrastructure.

 The portal will provide researchers a common platform to deliver consumer health information to participants, to discuss and exchange documents with other researchers, to conduct survey and other research activities online, and for educational activities.
