Objectives of task :

The overall objective of D3 is to create a telerehabilitation environment, so that the Sleep/Language Pathologist (SLP) can remotely train, facilitate, and evaluate the child performing speech/language "homework" exercises using computer software and interface devices (developed and/or adapted by AnthroTronix, Inc) while the child's parent is providing additional encouragement, reinforcement, rewards, as trained by the therapist.  This objective is the result of intensive discussions between the D3 investigators conducted in face-to-face meetings and over email.

To achieve this objective, the following activities are conducted in the Year 1 (ending December 1, 2005).

  • Task 1: The development of ATinc "first product" (Mission Control and software) for Speech/language therapies
  • Task 2:  Investigate and evaluate Commercial Off-the-self (COTS) SLP software
  • Task 3:  Show "tele" feasibility using ATinc first product (Mission Control and software) and doing a pilot with and without video-conferencing
