The University of Pittsburgh Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center (RERC) on Telerehabilitation invites you to participate in our Virtual State of the Science Conference that will take place November 17-20, 2008. Please join us on the World Wide Web (WWW) each day for live, interactive sessions on current issues related to telerehabilitation. Because this conference will be held entirely on the WWW, you can participate from your own location via your computer and web browser!  This is a free event and CEUs are available.

Q: Is registration required to attend?

A: Yes, please register at: http://www.sos.telerehabnet.org


Q: What will registering provide?

A: Registering will allow you to:

  • Access to white papers prior to the conference
  • Participate in pre-conference practice sessions to ensure that you are able to connect and access the presentations and interact from the start
  • Participate in any conference activity, including: White paper presentations, expert panel discussions, virtual round table discussions, virtual tours and other activities to be determined. You will be able to see, listen and communicate with participants from around the world.

Q: How will I interact with presenters and other participants in the discussions?

A: Full participation is possible because all of our sessions will be live webcasts. Through your web browser you will be able to see, listen and talk to the presenters and other participants in our virtual conference rooms. Synchronous and asynchronous communication is possible via web cameras, chat rooms and discussion boards.


Q: What are the technical requirements for participation?

A: We will be using Adobe Connect to facilitate the conference sessions. To participate, you will need a computer with access to the Internet (minimum bandwidth is 56kb/sec) and output (speakers). Additional requirements include:

Q: Will I be able to practice logging into a session prior to the conference?

A: Yes. We will conduct live "practice sessions" to help ensure that you can log into the conference site. Please refer to the list of technical requirements for participation.


Q: When will the white papers be made available and how will I receive them?

A: The white papers will be made available from the RERC website to all registered participants 7-10 days in advance. You will receive an e-mail notification when they are available for review.
